Excerpt: A Rhode Island man who was released on parole for a 1994 murder conviction will spend at least one year in jail for a drunken-driving accident earlier this year in Fairhaven.
Assistant District Attorney John Flor, who prosecuted the case, said Brown was driving on Interstate 195 westbound near the Mill Street overpass Jan. 7 when he lost control of the vehicle. Responding state troopers found the heavily damaged car on its roof, with a young woman sitting outside the car, bleeding from her ears, mouth and head.

During the sweep Friday, Flor told one group of residents whose trash drew his attention that the city would stay focused on its efforts.
"We're going to give you a warning," he said. "But we'll be back — like the Terminator."
